Bristol Swing Riot has been teaching Lindy Hop and solo jazz in Bristol for over 10 years, and we have a range of classes - from total beginner to advanced. We currently run Lindy Hop classes in two locations, so find your nearest class below!

If you've never danced Lindy Hop before then head over to our beginners page for more details about our beginners classes. We run both weekend courses and weekly drop-in  so there is something to suit everyone.

Then come and join our weekly classes at Easton Community Centre! We've been running classes in Easton for over 10 years now, and we teach from Level 1 to Level 3 on Tuesday nights. See below for the level descriptions.

Term dates: 9th January 2024 to 23rd July 2024 and from 3rd September to 10th of December 2024

Timings

Level 3 - 19:00 to 20:00

Level 2 - 20:00 to 21:00 

Level 1 - 21:00 to 22:00 


Level Descriptions: 


Beginners: If you have never learned Lindy Hop before or want a refresher of the fundamentals this is the right level for you - please see the Beginners page for suitable classes


Level 1: This level is suitable for you if you have completed one of our beginners courses, or a similar foundation course elsewhere. You should be familiar with 6-count and 8-count footwork and fundamental moves such as tuck turn, send out, change places/pass by.


Level 2: This level is suitable for you if you are comfortable and confident with linking moves and social dancing to songs with different tempos. You should have basic grasp of swingouts and lindy charleston.


Level 3: This level is suitable for you if you have been dancing regularly and frequently for a few years and you want to expand your repertoire with more detailed concepts and ideas within lindy hop. We'll expect you to be comfortable with swingouts and the classic variations, tandem charleston, and some solo jazz. 


Format

The classes are all drop-in (so you can come along any week) but are taught in themed blocks. For more info about what's being taught in classes check our Facebook events or sign up to the monthly newsletter on the Contact page. 


Travel

There is normally parallel parking space in the surrounding streets, but it can get a bit tight. The venue is right next to the Bristol to Bath cycle path, so cycling is an easy option. There is a large covered bike store to the right of the Community Centre.
